Our Circular Commitment to Sustainable Product Stewardship
At the heart of our sustainability efforts is BACK-2-BASE — a comprehensive take-back and resource recovery program designed to eliminate waste, extend material lifecycles, and ensure environmental accountability across every stage of our products’ lives.
We believe that true environmental impact is measured not only by what we produce but also by how we close the loop. Through strategic partnerships and practical systems, our Back-2-Base initiative actively diverts materials from landfills, reprocesses them into second-life applications, and redefines what responsible manufacturing looks like in the display, signage, and textile-based industries.
Here’s how each component of the program works:
Transfer Paper → Worm Farm Recycling
All used transfer paper generated through our production process is collected and sent to local worm farms, where it becomes a valuable part of an organic waste ecosystem.
Most transfer papers are plant-based, biodegradable, and printed with water-based dyes, making them ideal for composting.
This process keeps paper out of landfill, reduces methane emissions, and enriches the soil through vermicomposting — a natural, low-energy decomposition method.
It’s a unique solution that connects industrial waste with regenerative agriculture, creating a rare example of cross-sector sustainability.
Environmental Benefit: Organic waste diversion, methane emission reduction, and natural soil enrichment.
Aluminium Frame Production Waste & End-of-Life Systems → Local Recycling & Second-Life Use
All offcuts, production waste, and returned end-of-life aluminium frame systems are systematically collected and returned to our local recycling partner for reprocessing.
Aluminium is infinitely recyclable without degrading in quality.
Once returned, materials are melted down and repurposed into second-life products — supporting new structural systems or industrial components.
By recycling locally, we reduce the carbon footprint of transportation while supporting New Zealand’s circular economy.
Environmental Benefit: Zero-waste aluminium processing, energy savings of up to 95% compared to virgin aluminium, and complete lifecycle closure for structural products.
Fabric PRODUCTION WASTE & End-of-Life Graphics → Recycled into Second-Life Products
All fabric production waste, misprints, and returned end-of-life graphics are part of our fabric circularity stream. Through our BACK-2-BASE program:
Materials are collected, sorted, and shredded by our textile recycling partner.
They are then reprocessed into acoustic panels, insulation materials, and rigid boards — turning visual display materials into functional second-life products.
This ensures our fabrics avoid landfill and gain a valuable second purpose in interior and architectural applications.
Environmental Benefit: Textile waste diversion, reduced virgin material demand, and lifecycle extension for polyester substrates.
End-of-Life LED Lighting Systems → Component Recovery & Responsible Recycling
As part of our illuminated product lines, we offer a full return and recycling service for end-of-life LED lighting systems:
Returned fixtures are disassembled and separated into electronics, aluminium housings, and wiring components.
Valuable materials such as metals, glass, and PCBs are recovered and fed into certified e-waste recycling streams.
We partner with local certified e-waste facilities to ensure compliance with environmental standards and reduce landfill leakage.
Environmental Benefit: Diverts toxic e-waste from landfill, ensures safe recovery of rare-earth and recyclable materials, and reduces electronic pollution.
Cardboard Tubes & Boxes → Return-to-Source Recycling
All used and unwanted cardboard packaging — including shipping tubes, cartons, and display boxes — is collected through our return program and recycled locally:
Packaging is returned via our freight or client drop-off network and sent to partner recyclers for pulping and reuse.
This program prevents packaging from being landfilled on site, at event locations, or in installation areas.
It aligns with our zero-waste logistics model by ensuring that our packaging materials enter a closed-loop paper recycling system.
Environmental Benefit: Waste minimization at installation sites, high-volume material recovery, and support for local cardboard recycling infrastructure.
Why BACK-2-BASE Matters
Reduces Waste to Landfill: Active take-back and diversion for all major material categories.
Closes the Loop: Every product has an end-of-life plan, designed to be regenerative.
Saves Energy: Recycled materials use significantly less energy than producing new raw materials.
Supports Local Circularity: Our partnerships are 100% New Zealand-based, reducing freight emissions and strengthening regional industries.
Promotes Accountability: Encourages clients, installers, and industry partners to participate in responsible material management.
BACK-2-BASE is more than a recycling program — it's a commitment to circular design, conscious manufacturing, and environmental responsibility at every touchpoint.
